Eliminating Tear-Out and Surface Delamination in High-Density Fiberboard (HDF/HDX)

When cutting high-gloss laminated sheets or double-sided pre-finished Lasani (HDF), standard up-cut bits tear the top decorative veneer, while standard down-cut bits push chips down into the cut channel and fray the bottom face.
### The Mechanics of Compression Spiral Bits
A **Compression Endmill** is an ingenious metallurgical combination:
1. The bottom tip ($3 - 5\text{ mm}$) has an **Up-Cut** spiral geometry that pulls chips upward from the bottom face.
2. The remaining body of the tool has a **Down-Cut** spiral geometry that forces chips downward from the top face.
3. The two opposing helix angles meet in the middle of the tool, compressing material toward the neutral center plane of the board.
### Critical Entry Rules
To utilize a compression bit effectively, your first plunge pass must exceed the transition length (e.g. at least $5\text{ mm}$ depth of cut) so that the down-cut flutes engage the top surface immediately.
By ramping into the stock and cutting full depth at 4,000 mm/min, both top and bottom edges emerge crisp and razor-sharp with zero delamination.
