From Spindle to Bed: Rapid Prototyping Workshop Jigs on the Bambu Lab A1

Subtractive CNC routers and additive 3D printers are not competing technologies—they are synergistic fabrication partners. In our workshop, our **Bambu Lab A1** runs continuous overnight prints creating precision jigs and fixtures for our $1325$ router.
### Practical Workshop Additive Applications
1. **Custom Soft Jaws:** When milling irregular curved brass badges or acrylic letters, clamping them in a steel vise mars the surface. We 3D print conformal PETG soft jaws that perfectly mirror the 3D relief contours, clamping delicate parts firmly with zero surface damage.
2. **Aerodynamic Magnetic Dust Shoes:** Off-the-shelf CNC dust shoes are bulky and leak suction. We designed a dual-chamber magnetic break-away dust shoe in Bambu Studio, printed in Tough PLA with embedded $10\text{ mm}$ neodymium magnets. If the gantry accidentally collides with a clamp, the shoe breaks away harmlessly instead of snapping the spindle carriage.
3. **Sensor Enclosures:** Printing custom vibration-damping brackets for our Forge AI ESP32 acoustic sensor pods, shielding electronics from conductive aluminum chips.
